South Hill Wood is some 2.5 hectares. It contains remnants of ancient woodland, and has an interesting history. Flora and fauna surveys have identified 4 species of butterfly; 3 of bats; 26 of bird; 29 of trees; and 81 of various flora. In Spring, bluebell areas come to life. Information panels describe history, flora, and fauna. There is a strong Friends Group, with impressive improvement programmes. New planting encourages butterflies and birds. Nearby is Kingswood Glen, with four ponds.
