Monk Wood

This wood can be traced back many centuries but it was extensively replanted fifty years ago. Despite this, it has retained much of its ancient character and wildlife interest. It is very varied with older trees at the boundaries and stands of different ages elsewhere. It also well known for its butterfly population. Pools within the wood support dragonflies and bird life.
