This pleasant pine wood lies on a rocky hillock just east of the village of Lairg; literally at the end of Main Street. As well as the pine trees the wood is sprinkled with occasional birch, rowan, willow and two distinctive clumps of beech with the tall thin grey barked stems. Where the path passes under the electric lines there are views to the north and south. It is thought this wood was named after a forester Mr Gunn who planted the original wood in 1846.
