Back in 2016, over 3,000 Trust supporters helped us convince council planners to refuse this road building plan. However, the applicant, Peakman Ltd, appealed the council’s decision, which meant the case was in the hands of the Welsh Planning Inspectorate.

Following the conclusion of a public inquiry, the planning inspector has now published their report. And it makes for great reading.

With the diligent campaigning of the local community and support from Torfaen County Borough Council, we have collectively managed to see off this threat to precious ancient woodland outside of Pontypool, as the planning inspector has dismissed the appeal with strong consideration given to the impacts on ancient woodland.

Thank you to all who have supported this campaign. We couldn’t have done it without you.
