A very popular wood, glen and moor with well marked paths for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders alike. The top car-park (off RedmiresRoad) with nearby wooden benches, stepping stones and an open glade, gives the perfect spot for a picnic. Further parking (by the Rivelin Dam) gives access back to the top along the steep, brookside footpath, or, on the well-surfaced bridleway. You soon realise the Little Switzerland tag carries some credence as you walk beside the babbling, Wyming Brook.
