Whelley Woodland

Extensive, well-established and attractive mixed woodland situated in the centre of a largely residential area, which was formerly dotted with coal pits and collieries, leading from the Leeds-Liverpool Canal in the south to Bottling Wood and Haigh Hall in the north. Good pathways make for easy walking and there are cycle routes using the former Whelley Loopline, with good signage.
