Shinnelhead

This is a very large FCS Plantation. It is best accessed from Dalwhat Glen, 6 miles north of Moniaive. It is home to the Striding Arches and The Byre. Currently the forest is being logged (Feb 2013) and access from the Shinnel is not advised. Walking is on Forestry tracks or part of the Southern Uplands Way, which passes through much of this forest on its way to Sanquhar. There is parking by The Byre.
