More of a spinney than a wood - very narrow in places with urban housing on one side and good views over rolling countryside on the other. Part of the Great Aycliffe Way. The Southern end passes Greenfield School. The wood is ancient in places but new in others - probably no more than about 35 years old but in others there are ancient willows marking the erstwhile bank of an ancient river now just a small muddy beck.
