The Cleveland Way (Long distance Footpath) runs through this wood which is situated adjacent to the famous Italian Gardens. It is a Gorge with the fast flowing Skelton Beck (especially after heavy rain) at its base and Skelton Viaduct at the furthest point away from the Italian Gardens.
