Raikes Clough

This steeply wooded bank above the River Croal can be accessed from the top of Smiths Road and the path, which initially runs parallel to the busy St Peter's Way, leads on to Burnden Clough and presents a cycleway/footpath route into Bolton. Given its location, this may not be a particularly attractive area but there is evidence of woodland management and there are some quite impressive specimens doing their best to provide a relief to the town's outer industrial fringes.
