Old Northouse

A sensitively planted 407 hectare wood (1988), mostly of Sitka spruce and Japanese larch trees bordered by broadleaf species on lochs and rides. Two man-made lochs provide a small wetland area, increasing the diversity of habitats in a wood designed for woodland management and to benefit wildlife and recreation. Forest tracks and grass paths with rewarding views. Three waymarked tracks around the wood with evidence of pre-historic cultivation.
