With its relative remoteness and wealth of wildlife this National Nature Reserve offers a stunning backdrop to any walk along the northern or southern ridges of the Gordano Valley. The main habitats are woodland, grassland, and fen meadow, covering an area of 126 hectares. It is abundant in rare wildlife, including long eared owls in the winter, and water shrew, harvest mouse and otter. More than 130 species of flowering plant have been recorded here, as have 16 species of dragonfly and with 23 species of butterfly.
