Goitre Coed Fach follows a sweeping bend of the River Taff near Quaker's Yard, which has a railway station on the Abercynon - Merthyr Tydfil line. The wood comprises Beech, Oak, Ash and Birch. Some of the trees are classified as ancient. Nearby, there is a railway viaduct dating back to the 19th century. This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The wood provides a good display of bluebells in spring and is good for seeing autumnal colours later on in the year.
