Freeman's Wood

This small section of woodland is located between a housing estate and derelict mills on the edge of Lancaster. Described by locals as 'the only trees for miles around', although not an impressive ancient woodland, it is a natural haven for local walkers and cyclists. It has been the centre of several disputes in recent years after proposed developments threatened the wood in 2012 and Tree Protection Orders were violated.
