Bounded by a retail park, the busy A470 and the town of Merthy Tydfil, this wood provides the valuable green space illustrated by Rita's photographs. This area is part of Merthyr's industrial heritage. By the early 19th century, Cyfarthfa was the largest ironworks in the world. It would have been a very different place from the peaceful one depicted in these pictures. Merthyr itself is well served by public transport and there are local bus stops at several points around this wood.
