Crooksbury Common lie to the south of the Hog's Back and is a site of special scientific interest SSSI. The commons lies on greensand and is covered with heathland. Crooksbury Hill was mentioned in a Sherlock Holmes short story, "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist". The view from the top of Crooksbury Hill is well worth the hike up to the summit and on a clear day there are stunning views over southwest Surrey and east Hampshire, across to the South Downs.
