Criffel

Criffel woods are a lovely mix of well maintained and graded paths, mixed native woodlands, the lovely Craigrockall Burn and some commercial forestry. We parked at New Abbey (with pubs and toilets) which is easier parking that at Ardwall Farm, but further to walk. We walked on up to Criffel hill and back round Loch Kindar - fabulous views but very boggy paths outside the forestry area, we were glad it was still frozen underfoot! Care is needed when walking up Criffel in winter/wet conditions.
