Cowhill Estate

This is a small but pretty wood, comprising mostly beech and birch, with some conifers, and other native trees. Light and airy, Cowhill Wood has both mature and newly planted trees. There are 2 access gates from School Road, but this is a narrow country lane and parking here is difficult (there is a local school close by too), so it would be best to park in Holywood village and walk (about 1km). There are no marked paths but walking in the woods is easy, although can be muddy.
