Coed y wenallt

The red sandstone slopes of this area are home to several woods which are easily reached from Cardiff. Coed y Wenallt is a 44 hectare area of designated ancient woodland which is also a SSSI. There is a great variety of bird and other wildlife. You could consider yourself unlucky if you didn't at least hear a Great Spotted Woodpecker, particularly in springtime when the sea of bluebells provides a visual treat.
