Big wood has remnants of ancient oakwood with a lovely mix of tree species and many rare lichens. Visit in spring for the wildflowers (inc bluebells). Hosts a diversity of native and migrant birds including capercaillie and waxwings. 5 waymarked nature trails from ' mile to 5 miles.
