Cassock Hill is at the northern end of the large Eskdalemuir Forest. The views from the top of the hill are excellent, looking to the Border hills. Parking is difficult and access may be restricted during forestry operations. There are some sheep within the forest, so be aware if you are walking with a dog. There is much to see in the wood, which is at various stages of production, from new areas of planting to maturer trees. There are waymarker posts, but no information about the routes.
