This Wood is located on a steep scarp face to the southwest of Sheffield City centre. A relatively new piece of woodland, this area of a few hectares started life as planting on common, and more recently, private land which was acquired some ninety years ago by Sheffield City Council.
The area is managed by the Council's Parks & Woodland Department and is comprised of beech, originally planted as a coppiced cash crop, evergreen shrubs and an infilling of a variety of deciduous trees. The Friends of Brincliffe Edge Wood work under the umbrella of the Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group and meet about once a month to tidy, plant and litter pick.
The Wood is a safe place for the jogger or dog walker and is an area free from the stresses of life in a modern city.
