This lovely little woodland sprouts out of the hillside above the town of Kirkcudbright and offers a very pleasant circular walk amongst mixed woodland comprising mainly of beech and birch with sections of coniferous plantation. There is a small free car park at the wood but if you wish to extend your walk, free parking is available in the town and you can take a steep walk up to the woods. The woodland walk is fairly short (1 mile) and so it is an ideal walk for young children.
