Bar Hill Plantations

This Forestry Commission wood is on a hill above Barhill Road in Dalbeattie. Visitors are greeted with a stand of mature Beech,along the tracks the dominant species is Silver birch, with frequent holly and patches of Rhododendron in the understorey. The central sections have Sitka Spruce, and a fenced of plantation of Douglas Fir. You will also find Scots pine, oak and occasional sycamore.
