Ampthill Forest - Wilstead Wood

This is large mainly deciduous woodland, set on rising ground. A well surfaced pathway runs through the centre with smaller paths branching off. The lower part of the wood is rather wet and is characterised by tangled ancient woodland. The higher areas give way to more open Beech woodland, but the path does become quite steep. Good views of Bedford and the surrounding area can be found at the top however, making the climb worth while.
