A remote & rugged forest which is a mix of planted conifers and Caledonian pinewoods. Long & short informal walks (not way-marked) lead through the forest & up the hills with great views for the energetic. A short walk through the forest leads to classic routes to the Munros of Beinn Liath Mhor (the big grey hill) and Sgurr Ruadh (the red peak). Fuar Tholl (the cold hole) is a popular climbing site that's just below 3,000 feet ' it's also called 'Wellington's Nose' because of its shape. If you don't feel like a high-level walk, there's a circuit around Easan Dorcha (the dark waterfall) that passes waterfalls, pine forest and superb views of Strathcarron.
