They're living legends. Pieces of history. Your heritage. They've witnessed centuries of change and been part of our landscape for generations. They're also vital havens for wildlife and important carbon stores. But our oldest and most valuable trees are also vulnerable.
Right now, most ancient trees have no real legal protection in the UK. Many face a range of threats.
These national treasures should be here to stay. They deserve the same sort of protection enjoyed by old buildings, beloved national recipes and other endangered wildlife – some of which can't survive without ancient trees.
With your support we can fight for better protection for our living legends: the UK's oldest and most important trees. We'll also plant and care for more of the precious woodland havens our threatened wildlife needs, ensuring they thrive for generations to come.

Last year we saved veteran oak trees facing the axe in Cheltenham and South West London. We also helped stop a proposed major road link in the Vale of Glamorgan, which would have endangered six ancient woods. With your help we can stand up for even more woods and trees still under threat.

In 2020-21 we helped plant more than two million saplings in parks and gardens, on roadsides and on farmland. And in all, we had a hand in creating over 1,600 hectares of new tree cover. Your support will mean we can plant even more trees where they're needed most.
