Who we are

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated solely to the protection of our native woodland heritage.

These trees are supplied by Alba Trees PLC who supply products including trees, shrubs, wildflowers and reeds, as well as tree shelters, stakes and planting equipment. They specialise in the production of native trees of local provenance from seed collected throughout the UK and are subject to annual checks for all diseases by the Scottish Government’s plant health officers. They provide a consultancy service to other nurseries and hold the Royal Warrant as Tree and Shrub Nurserymen by appointment to Her Majesty The Queen.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Schools and Community tree pack offers are only available to UK organisations who intend to use the tree packs on land owned/leased/managed by schools and community groups. The tree packs must not be redistributed to individuals to plant on private properties although we do provide trees to “small urban spaces” for individuals to plant trees in front gardens bordering a street where there are no community spaces in that area. At the moment, this scheme is not available to Northern Ireland-based organisations, but the Woodland Trust does hope to extend the scheme there in the near future.
  2. Before making the application for trees, applicants must have gained written permission to use the site for tree planting from the legal landowner. The Woodland Trust reserves the right to view such written permission on request.
  3. Organisations can apply for a maximum of 420 trees per biannual delivery season i.e. a total of up to 840 trees per year.
  4. All tree packs are subject to availability and the Woodland Trust has the right to decline, or reduce the size of the order, at its sole discretion.
  5. Woodland Trust will use its best endeavours to supply the tree types requested by the applicant but reserves the right to change the tree type at its discretion without notice.
  6. The Woodland Trust will not be held responsible for lost or missing tree packs.
  7. By submitting an application for a tree pack, applicants agree to take part in the Woodland Trust programme for monitoring of the growth of the trees. This may include occasional site visits by a Woodland Trust representative to examine the trees and/or completing questionnaires.
  8. By submitting an application for a tree pack, applicants will be asked to provide the Woodland Trust with a testimonial, feedback and/or photos that might subsequently be used for Woodland Trust publicity. Applicants agree that such feedback and photos may be shared by the Woodland Trust with its project partners for monitoring, evaluation and promotion of the scheme.
  9. Applicants and scheme participants are prohibited from selling on, or giving away, tree packs, trees, or associated material both directly and indirectly to any individual (including members of the organisation applying). The trees must only be used by a school or community group, so in the event that applicants find that they cannot use trees, they should contact local schools or their local council who may be able to collect.
  10. All information within the application must be accurate and transparent.
  11. The Woodland Trust has the right to contact the organisation/school/community group directly to discuss the application process and legitimacy of the application.
  12. The Woodland Trust carries out due diligence checks to ensure that the information provided is correct and the intended purpose for the tree application matches with the guidance we follow for the Free Trees application.
  13. Please refer to our data privacy policy in regards to how we use and store your personal data. This policy also outlines your individual rights.
