West of the River offers fantastic views over the reed beds and is a little oasis of calm. Mostly gorse shrub it is an excellent place to see white throats and Dartford warblers. The woodland is mostly dominated by old willow and is extremely interesting due to the way they have grown and the abundant mosses and lichens they support.
