This wood, which lies immediately below the Old Man of Storr, is approximately 80 hectares in extent. The 1970's non-native coniferous species are now being harvested with a view to augmenting the small areas of native broadleaf woodland. The Portree-Staffin bus stops nearby at Torvaig layby and the path through the forest is the main route for walkers and climbers heading for the Old Man of Storr and spectacular views to Raasay, Rona, the Cuillins and Applecross.
