Northaw Great Wood

A SSSI since 1985, this 216 hectare area was once part of a huge Norman wood. Different uses included being part of the Outer London Anti-Tank Stop Line. Mostly birch, oak and hornbeam it is a country park, local nature reserve & ancient woodland.
