This ex clay pit is now an attractive wildfowl habitat and popular fishing site. Although not well signposted it is worth seeking out, rewarding visitors with a sudden view of its expanse of water, busy with wildlife. A circular tree-lined path allows visitors the opportunity to sit and enjoy this peaceful haven, although it can be muddy in wet weather. The family friendly Stamford Park, which has a higher profile, is only a few minutes away although there is an adjacent play area on Birchlea.
