Denstead wood is part of The Wildlife Trusts South Blean plantation. South Blean is part of the wider Blean living landscape stretching through a 16 km arc to the west and north of Canterbury. The reserve, which has been established by a series of acquisitions between 1966 and 2006, covers some 329 hectares of mixed native deciduous woodland, conifer and sweet chestnut plantations, as well as bog and heath.
