Although easily overlooked driving past on Captains Clough Road, dropping down on either side reveals a pleasant and quiet wooded area and stream. The new gates and paths, which have been improved by volunteers show that this green space is appreciated by the locals. Visitors have the chance to see bluebells, lesser celandines, pink purslane, red campions and ransoms, along with the inevitable balsam. Amongst the birch trees nuthatch and greater spotted woodpecker may be spotted.
