Arkaig ospreys: behind the scenes of a nest camera in the Scottish Highlands
No wi-fi, no plug sockets, no film crew. Meet the people behind the camera and explore the set of the UK's most remote family drama.
Our nest camera in the Scottish Highlands shows osprey family life unfold each summer.
Check out our osprey FAQs for more information about the birds, our camera and Loch Arkaig.
Our live nest cameras, supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery, began streaming footage of breeding ospreys from Loch Arkaig Pine Forest back in 2017.
Our resident pair Louis and Dorcha hatched three chicks in 2024. Two of the chicks sadly died, but the third fledged successfully. Louis and Dorcha left the nest in late July - we look forward to their return in spring 2025.
We protect trees, restore woods and create thriving havens for wildlife across the UK, from incredible temperate rainforests and precious ancient woodlands to rare Caledonian pinewoods like Loch Arkaig. They're refuges for threatened red squirrels, mighty centuries-old trees and countless other species that can't survive without them. But we can't keep them safe without your support.
Please donate today – for the health of woods and trees across the UK.
