Getting started

All fields are required unless indicated as optional.

Applications are now being taken for planting new woodland over 0.5ha between November 2024 and March 2025.

Please note: All our subsidised or free products have defined eligibility criteria; should you not meet those, or we consider the product to be otherwise unsuitable, we will offer the most appropriate product available. We will share your details with our nursery partners, contractors, couriers, sponsors and any other third parties involved directly in the funding or delivery of your Woodland Trust trees.

Any land planted through MOREwoods will not be eligible for funding under the Basic Payment Scheme and some other agricultural grants. If this is a concern, please do not progress your application further. For more details or to discuss how the right trees in the right place can offset these payments, please call 0330 333 5303.

Applicants are for the UK only. Applications can be from both members and non-members of the Woodland Trust. The following information is required before you can start your application.

Condition of planning permission
While we cannot supply trees for planting as a condition of planning permission, we may be able to offer advice. Please contact us for help or to discuss applications which go beyond the planning stipulations.
Planting area GRID reference

For help, visit OS Maps and enter the nearest postcode to the planting site. Right click the location to see the grid reference

The GRID reference format must be two letters followed by six, eight or 10 numbers, e.g. AA123456, AA12345678 or AA1234567890

Planting area maps

In order for us to consider your scheme you must send us a map of the area(s) you are considering to plant - unfortunately we won't be able to process your application until these are received.

Please send two maps:

One of the wider area and a larger scale map indicating the area that you would like to plant.  These should have the woodland planting area(s) clearly marked.  This will enable us to assess your eligibility for funding.  The plan doesn't need to be definitive at this stage, but it is useful for our advisors to have before visiting the site in person.

Maps are essential for us to process your application. You must attach at least one map, ideally two, or agree to send us a map by post to progress with your application.

Add a map showing the location of your land within the wider landscape, ideally showing adjacent features such as roads or field boundaries. (Max upload size 10Mb)

Add a map with a close-up view indicating the area(s) that you would like to plant. (Max upload size 10Mb)
