Come along to help remove invasive rhododendron plants from the Smithills Estate.

You'll be joined by two of our staff members, who will guide you as we work together to remove this damaging, non-native plant from key areas on the site.

This event is part of a three-month series of events aimed at giving young people aged 13-17 experience in conservation work. All young people need to be accompanied by a supervising adult, who will be welcome to join in the activity.

We are running these sessions to recruit young volunteers for the Smithills Estate. Once registered as a volunteer, young people can attend regular volunteering sessions without their accompanying adult. Our young volunteers will carry out a variety of conservation tasks on the last Sunday of each month in 2025. They will meet and work as a team whilst supervised by Smithills Estate staff members.

We are keen to welcome more people to the team to build new skills, make friends and gain experience that makes your CV stand out.

This is a free event but booking in advance via Eventbrite is essential.
