Grab a spade and help us plant the first set of trees at Gleann Shìldeag, a unique and dramatic landscape set in the lush rainforest zone on Scotland’s northwest coast.

The four-hour event is open to all in the local area. We will be planting at Balgy before making our way to Shieldaig Village Hall for refreshments.

Tickets are free but please remember to book in advance via Eventbrite.

There may be the option to get a minibus from Shieldaig village if enough people are interested. Please get in touch with carolineausten@woodlandtrust.org.uk if you are interested in this option.

Don't forget

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Warm, waterproof outdoor clothing and walking boots are advised.

There will be limited facilities and no toilets on site. Toilets are available in Shieldaig village.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

 

When and where

  • Date: Saturday 23 March. 10am-2pm.
  • Price: free, but donations to support the management of our woodlands are welcome.
  • Location: Gleann Shìldeag, Balgy planting site, Shieldaig, IV54 8XP. We will meet at the site entrance to the planting area at Balgy. The What3Words location for the turn-off from the A896 is ///player.melt.stirs, by Balgy Lodge Road End. You will be welcomed by staff in high-vis vests who will direct you from there.
  • Parking: there are a number of parking spaces available at the site entrance to the planting area at Balgy. The What3Words location for the turn-off from the A896 is ///player.melt.stirs, by Balgy Lodge Road End.

  • Access: our planting site is in a remote area with few facilities and therefore may not be suitable for everyone. The ground will be uneven and muddy underfoot.
  • Dogs: well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

How to cancel your ticket

  1. Log in to your Eventbrite account.
  2. Go to the top right corner and select 'Tickets'.
  3. Click on the event you wish to cancel.
  4. Click 'Cancel order'.
  5. Then click 'Yes, cancel this order'.

You should then receive a cancellation confirmation to your email.
