Do you want to protect ancient trees and the wildlife they support?

If you are aged 13-17 years old, join us for a day of identifying and recording Dartmoor's ancient and veteran trees in Okehampton. You will need to attend with a parent (or other responsible adult). Together you will learn to record these special trees on the Ancient Tree Inventory database, which already boasts over 200,000 records.

The day will be run by the Woodland Trust’s southwest lead verifier of the Ancient Tree Inventory, Tim Kellett.

The training day will cover:

  • how to identify the features of veteran, ancient and notable trees
  • why they are important for wildlife and our heritage
  • how to record a tree on the Ancient Tree Inventory and why this is important.

This event will include an indoor session, as well as the chance to get outside and practise recording ancient and veteran trees in the field.

Booking in advance via Eventbrite is essential. Please book a ticket for everyone attending this event (two tickets for one young person and one accompanying adult).
